| After
we had graduated at the Dental Technician School Anneessens in Brussels,
we went to Cologne, Germany. There we specialized in ceramics and
milling techniques for five years. In 1985 we returned to Belgium
and set up our own Dental Laboratory in Tessenderlo, the Dental Labo
Rutten.
By reading some articles, published in Quintessence, written by Klaus Müterthies we got interested in his layering technique. After we had been present at a lecture and a table clinic, we attended a practical course in his lab in Gütersloh, Germany.
In 1988 we attended the Quintessence Ceramic Symposium in Paris. A lot of internationally renowned dental technicians gave different lectures there.
Immediately we got interested in macrophotography,
didactics and rhetoric. (We found our mission in life)
At the same symposium in Paris we got introduced to Enrico Steger.
This resulted in attending a hands-on course (about the anatomical
surface in ceramics) in his laboratory in Sand in Taufers, Northern-Italy.
In
1989 we enrolled our first dental technician.
In
1989 we read in "Das Dental Labor" about an international
contest. It was a huge challenge for us to participate in that contest
and by our surprise we won that contest and got the title "Newcomer
'90". This first prize consisted of giving a lecture at the
"Fortbildungsseminar" in Sand in Taufers, Northern-Italy.
In
1991 we published our first article in "Das Dental Labor";
it was translated in three languages.
In
1993 we took practical courses at Dieter Schulz in Nürnberg,
Germany. This course dealt with the biomechanical surface.
Dental Labo Rutten was transformed into a partnership and the name
was changed into Dental Team bvba.
In
1996 we enrolled our second dental technician. We also attended
a two-day-course given by Jürg Stuck in Stuttgart, Germany.
His progressive philosophy of the total prosthesis was a relevation
for us.
